For a while, I had been thinking about buses and scuba diving, probably because my favorite bus got me to my very first scuba meet, and I've wondered, would buses be the perfect choice for making local dive trips? I would say yes. First off, you ha…

Diver, Diveheart friend
About Me:
I am a graduate from Washtenaw Community College, majoring in computers and networking. I am pursuing my Bachelors degree in Network Information Technology Administration from Eastern Michigan University.
I got into Scuba Diving in 2007 with a Discover Scuba class. I thought I was in over my head so I bailed out, but the next day, I said to myself: "I want to do this again!"
I went at it again in January 2008 and loved it; I signed up for the Open Water class the next day.
I completed the classroom and pool diving in March 2008.
Unfortunately, before I could do my Checkout Dives, epilepsy got in my way. For almost a year, I slugged it out with doctors and neurologists trying to get back in the water.
Now in 2009, I have gotten the okay, but PADI will no longer certify me through them. It looks like another medical battle, but when I came across Diveheart, my hopes came right back up.
After getting a chance to perform three dives in Open Water at the Haigh Quarry on Labor Day weekend in 2009, I am happy to say that getting my scuba certification is inevitable.

Bus 374 plays a role in Scuba Diving

I posted a few pictures of my favorite bus, number 374, in the Ann Arbor Transportation Authority, because not only is the bus important to me, but she plays a role in my passion for diving.
Back in October of 2007, I was preparing to go to my first Discover Scuba. I was crossing town by bus, and it was running late. It fell so far behind that I failed to make my transfer at the bus station downtown. I was very disappointed, but a minute later, another bus pulled up next to me. I looked up and there she was: Bus 374, ready to take me down the road. The bus dropped me off right at the pool where the Discover Scuba was held that evening. Bus 374 saved the day, saved me from the cold and saved the dive too.
Then in March of 2008, when I was doing the pool dives for my Open Water Dive Class, Bus 374 got me to the pool two out of the three days I went diving. (The third time, the dive sight was changed so I had to hitch a ride.)
It is really nice to have a bus--the same bus every time I might add--that could take me to my Confined Water Dives.

There is a solution, called a coonass rebreather, run the exausted air from your second stage regulator to your butt,,,,,,hummmmm, never mind, just get a longer hose connected to a compressor from the boat, be sure it supplies clean breathable air, not the one that supplies pnumatic air for the boat. hehehe

DJ, dive safe, tie your regulator to your mouth just in case the unfortunate happens and you have an attack. hehehe, there is always a simple fix to any situation, ya just gotta figure it out. It hasn't stopped me from becoming a merchant mariner, scuba diver, mechanic (shade tree), skydiver, (even though I have to skid in on my butt, hehe) hunter, trapper, on and on and on.

Some of my crew call me "Captain Limp Along" hehe,

You'll enjoy your new sport, and if you see a diver swimming in circles, give me a nudge to get me back in the right direction, hehehe.

Capt Crip, still swimming in circles.

I never made it into Lake Superior, but a friend and I dove Portage Lake and a few old quarries in the area. The quarries turned out to be really murky and not so good for diving, but the Portage has a few shipwrecks that were interesting to see.
