Hi Jeanne -
I read your posts and am following your progress with interest. I also am retired from public service and am very interested in learning to dive with a disability (pleural scarring around the lungs reducing my lung capacity). How are you making out ?
Your friend,
Paul.
Jeanie I hope by now you've accomplished your goal and are a certified scuba diver, If not try my friends I've been diving with for many years possibly they can help you out. Their located in Cozumel between the main square and Carlos-N-Charlies, Senior Frogs, when you see their dock "Aqua Safari" look at the building across the street you'll see their main shop. here is their contact email: dive@aquasafari.com, and their link: http://www.aquasafari.com
Hi, Janice! We haven't given up yet. One of our main goals while we were in Mexico was to go to that Dive Paradise and have them work with us but each time we had torrential rains. We stopped at a dive shop in Cozumel to see if they were trained to work with handicapped people and they said 'no'. Then the last day we happened to find another shop and they said they had no problems working with handicapped. The man then showed us videos of the place where they train which was on the ocean but looked like a large pond and when you were ready you could go cave diving which was connected some way to this pond. Of course, being the last day we couldn't but it just got us all the more excited. Jack said he would like to be trained to become an Diveheart instructor. Where we live here we will just have to get our certificates through the YMCA which is fine. I've already talked to them. SO! That will probably be our next step! Thank you for asking. I sure don't want to lose touch with you all! j
Hi, Dave Z! I sent an e-mail to Discovery Jones Dive Paradise to see about setting up the lessons but haven't heard back. I think I'll try calling them. Jim Eliott sent a video showing some Dive Heart lessons so I'm REALLY excited! Thank you for getting back with me! Jeanne
Welcome to the Diveheart friends social network. I am glad that you found us! I know that you contacted Jim via e-mail, and I am sure that he will get you set up with some good people in Cancun. Please keep us up to date on your progress.

About Me:
The picture(s) are of my 'going away) party when I finally had to give up my nursing career due to the Transverse Myelitis.
I'm not a 'diver' but I do so want to take the lessons and we're going to Cancun Feb. 2, 2008, and hear they might give lessons to people with handicaps in Cozumel. I'm trying to find out more so I can get it set up.
