There is a very good reason for it, albeit selfish of me.

In March, 2009, we switched gears with the Oak Lawn group. While we have about 2 dozen participants (with more to come, I'm told), we chose a group of 10 potential candidates for the first scuba adventure trip to the Florida Keys. From this group, the list was eventually reduced to 6... an ideal number for a first trip. In March, even though the discover scuba events continued, we began the open water certification process with the initial group of 10. The pool sessions became in-water academics (confined water training) for these people. We also started the out-of-water academic sessions.

Once we crossed the threshold of Discover Scuba into academics, it became time to hold back on posting photos and videos. This is material that will become part of the trip DVD I will be compiling for the trip.

The Oak Lawn group flew down to Florida on June 22 and returned on June 27. Hundreds of photos were taken and a good deal of video as well. As the trip DVD is compiled (and the process is well underway), previews will be posted and you will also begin seeing some of the long anticipated photos as well.

Of the trip itself, it was 14 months in the making and the first of what I hope will become an annual event and run for years to come. Some incredible people accomplished feats that are nothing short of inspirational. What a truly eye and heart opening experience it was. We are so excited to start finding new opportunities in Michigan to help get disabled and able bodied divers involved. It's kinda fitting since I was there on New Year's day, and this next weekend will probably be my last dives for 2007. It will be a nice way to wrap up the year! I'm looking forward to getting breakfast at the Waffle House in Findlay- scattered, smothered, covered!
